A ScholarMom is a woman who, while a devoted mother, is also committed to pursuing higher education.

ScholarMom is an inclusive term. You might be single, married, or divorced. You might be working on a BA, MA, PhD, JD, plumber’s degree, whatever! In general, you are just seeking to gain an education beyond high school. Maybe you’re a stay at home mom, a work from home mom, an entrepreneur, or a woman holding traditional employment. We can all learn from each other!

-Ariel, founder of ScholarMoms

Founded in 2017, ScholarMoms is a community for women who love their children and families, but also feel driven to reach for more. Depending on your field of study and the level of education (bachelor’s, vocational, master’s, doctoral) that you seek, the dual adventures of motherhood and academics can been somewhat lonely. It can feel like very few people can fully grasp what you are experiencing.

We hear a lot about working moms, and rightfully so. It’s hard to be away from home most of the day at a job that you may or may not be passionate about. However, a student’s schedule can pose its own challenges, not the least of which being that student-life does not have official work hours. ScholarMoms and working moms are certainly not mutually exclusive groups. Women today can do it all!

ScholarMoms aspires to establish ourselves as a tightly-knit community through which members find and maximize opportunities for individual growth and development. As a sisterhood, we look to create connections and bond with one another over misadventures, epiphanies, laughs, wins, and even losses. We know how hard it is to have to fight for every grade and maintain balance across the board. Thankfully, you’ll never have to go it alone again. Allow ScholarMoms to join (or become) your support system!
